Artifact- Side saddle

Side Saddle

The most common ways for children to get to and from school usually include taking the bus, a ride from parents, or maybe walking or riding a bike.  Carrie Murray rode her horse.  Donated by Murray’s niece, this side saddle was used by Murray to get to and from school.  The saddle is from the Storey and Campbell Company, a Vancouver company established in 1892.  They sold travel gear such as saddles, harnesses, trunks, etc.  As automobiles started to replace horses and wagons, the company changed their focus to commercial trucks.
